Natural Ways to Get Pregnant Fast
If you’ve decided you’re ready for a child, you would probably like to conceive as quickly as possible, especially if you are trying to plan your delivery and maternity leave for a particular time for convenience.
While there are no guarantees, there are a few simple steps you can take in the comfort of your own home that can increase your chances of getting pregnant fast.
Timing of Intercourse
Women are only fertile for a few days each month: when ovulation occurs and for about a day afterward. To maximize your chances of becoming pregnant, sperm need to be present when the mature egg is released and ready to be fertilized.
Sperm can survive up to five days in fertile cervical fluid. Plan to have intercourse on the three to five days leading up to ovulation as well as two days afterward. You can track when you ovulate using ovulation-testing kits, basal body temperature charting or by observing changes in your cervical mucous.
Hormone levels tend to be higher early in the morning, so timing intercourse for early morning may also help.
Many couples find that using a lubricant makes sex more enjoyable, particularly since the stress of having intercourse on a schedule may reduce natural arousal. Many lubricants, however, are as detrimental to sperm as spermicide.
If you choose to use a lubricant, make sure you choose one that is designed to improve your chances of conceiving. Lubricants that are conception-friendly include Conceive Plus, ConceivEase and Pre-Seed.
Making the Journey
The male should deposit his semen as deeply in the vagina and as close to the cervix as possible.
When possible, the female should achieve orgasm after the man; natural contractions during female orgasm help draw semen into the uterus, getting it closer to the Fallopian tube, where most conception occurs.
Female orgasm may also change the pH of vaginal secretions, making them more compatible with your quest for successful fertilization.
