Today I want to talk about different variations on popular dishes that instantly make them more healthy.
Its just little things you can do make things a little different.
Switch from Complex Sodas and Other Sugary Drinks to Flavored Water and Sun Tea
I know it’s a little early to be thinking about sun tea, but iced tea is a great low calorie alternative to soda and other sugar items.
You can also sweeten it with honey rather than sugar which is lower in calories and helps you be less allergic to local plants and flowers, a double benefit.
As for water, we all hate to drink it all the time and we all hate the fact its tasteless.
But if you take those low calorie water flavoring packs, you know what I’m talking about, then you can turn water into something really nice and low calorie.
My buddy likes to make bottles of water ahead that he can grab on the way to work, the gym or elsewhere.
Switch from Creamy Dressings to Vinaigrettes and Oil
I know its hard if you’re a ranch dressing or blue cheese fan but the calorie difference is amazing. Cream dressings can run 200-300 calories for a few tablespoons.
Vinegar and Oil or Vinaigrettes run only 50 to 60 calories. Its always the little changes that really count. Minus the fact there are so many recipes for salads and such, you’ll be eating well in no time!
Antipasto Isn’t Just for Dinner
The whole eating 6 meals a day is impractical for most people. But having a ready snack sitting around in your bag or in the fridge is a great way to keep your metabolism moving.
Keep some granola on hand, have some salami and cheese cut up in the fridge at work or home and just have a piece or two throughout the day.
Your brain and your waistline will be better for it.
